The 2022 Domaine Jean-Marc Bouley Bourgogne Aligote is a beautifully crafted expression of the Aligoté grape, made from vines planted in 1996 and 2001 on chalky-clay soil. Managed by Thomas Bouley since 2012, the domaine practices organic viticulture, focusing on vine health and minimal intervention. The vineyard benefits from meticulous practices, such as ploughing, selective pruning, and maintaining a natural balance without the use of herbicides or chemical fertilizers. The grapes undergo fermentation with ambient yeasts in open vats, followed by 8 to 10 months of aging in stainless steel tanks without fining or filtration. This Aligote showcases vibrant fruit flavors of pear, melon, and mandarin, with a subtle saline minerality that adds freshness and complexity. The wine has a beautiful texture, marked by fine-grained detail and a broad, well-balanced palate. The finish is long, with lingering mineral and chalk notes that reflect the terroir. With a focus on preserving the purity of the fruit and respecting traditional winemaking methods, this Aligote is a testament to the quality and character of Burgundy's Côte de Beaune region.
