The 2019 Quinta da Muradella Monterrei Blanco Muradella is a complex and vibrant white wine from Galicia, Spain, primarily made from Treixadura, with small additions of Verdello and Dona Blanca. The single vineyard, planted in 1999-2000 with heirloom cuttings, is located in a mosaic of soils including sand, slate, and iron-rich clay. The wine is fermented in a mix of stainless steel and French foudres, then aged on its lees for over 15 months, followed by an additional year in stainless steel. This wine is known for its flinty, mineral character, with aromas of stones, subtle honey, and chamomile. The palate is fresh, light, and energetic, with a slight woodiness and great acidity. Rated 96+ points by Wine Advocate and 95 points by James Suckling, the wine is praised for its complexity, freshness, and long, persistent finish. It is ideal for pairing with stinky cheeses, roast white meats, or fried foods and will continue to develop in the bottle.
