Roederer Estate, founded in 1982, is nestled in Mendocino County's fog-shrouded Anderson Valley. As the California property of Champagne Louis Roederer, Roederer Estate follows a centuries-old tradition of fine winemaking. The premium grape growing region's proximity to the Pacific Ocean allows for grapes to mature slowly on the vine and develop full varietal character. Among the few California sparkling wine houses that only source estate-grown fruit, Roederer Estate is meticulous about its farming decisions, including the use of open lyre trellis systems and high-density plantations. The winemaking process also involves organic and biodynamic vineyard farming and careful tracking of grape maturity. Roederer Estate Brut is extremely fresh and floral, with notes of sliced apples, stones, white peach, and bread dough. It has fine bead, medium to full body, crisp acidity, and a steely finish, with hints of phenolics providing a fine texture. Vibrant acidity shines through, with about 15% reserve wine (mostly chardonnay) in the blend from five vintages. The wine spends 2.5 years on the lees and is composed of 60% chardonnay and 40% pinot noir. This delightful California sparkling wine pairs well with Frito mist, kimbop, and creamy cheeses like camembert. Enjoy now or hold for later.
